  Larry J. Sechrest is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. He has been a Ludwig von Mises Institute Fellow for 1987-88 and 1988-89, as well as an Adjunct Scholar of the Ludwig von Mises Institute. He has written articles on economics and banking for numerous journals, and a book, Free Banking: Theory, History, and a Laissez-Faire Model, published by Quorum Books in 1993. This summer, at the Institute for Objectivist Studies Summer Seminar in Oberlin, he presented his paper "Is Hayek's 'Extended Order' Rational?" He is currently writing a book with the working title of Merchant Sailing Ship Records, 1830-1939.
